Travel: Spain 2014 | Part 13 - Toledo Day Trip

August 13, 2014 · 8 minute read · Tags: panchubshammy , spain , toledo , travel

Day 13 - June 20 We woke up early as we had a train at 8.50am to catch to Toledo for a day trip. Our return timing is 8.25pm from Toledo to Madrid, so basically we would be spending the entire day in Toledo :)! Toledo is about 30 minutes away from Madrid via the train, and we arrived sometime around 9.30am. Our 6th, and final city, for this Spain trip!

Day 12 - June 19 After an exciting day yesterday, comes probably our most relaxed and unplanned day of the entire trip! We had briefly noted down that we wanted to go to the El Rastro flea market and try to catch one of the free Madrid walking tours. There was nothing else planned except… That I had booked another hammam session from Hammam Al Andalus in Madrid (same company as the one in Granada).

Travel: Spain 2014 | Part 11 - Madrid Day 2

Day 11 - June 18 Today is the day! Every trip we try to mix in a bit of adventure, and on top of that we’d usually attempt to do something new. For this trip, it was paragliding! We’ve never done it before and were not trained, so we had to do it tandem. We reached out to Nicholas from Parapente de Madrid al Cielo and Robert from Madrid Outdoor Sports when we were trying to find where and how we could paraglide in Madrid.

Day 10 - June 17 We woke up around 7.15am and started preparing to leave. We had made arrangements with Rafa (the kind person who picked us up from the train station when we first reached Granada) to pick us up from the cave-house and drive us to the train station as it was not easy to get a taxi from where we were staying, and dragging our luggages downhill is out of question :P.

Travel: Spain 2014 | Part 9 - Granada Day 2

Day 9 - June 16 We woke up at around 7am as we had booked our tickets for the Alhambra for 8.30am. We’ve heard so much about the Alhambra and have been looking forward to this visit! The cave was freezing cold in the early morning! View of the Alhambra from our cave-house! We had to walk down from our lodging, and again took some photos (as usual) along the way…

Travel: Spain 2014 | Part 8 - Granada Day 1

Day 8 - June 15 We had an 11.58am train to catch from Seville to Granada, and we probably woke up around 10am… We couldn’t find a taxi stand after walking for a long time (one of the main roads which were supposed to have a taxi stand was closed for works!). Turns out, there was a taxi stand right in the Alameda de Hercules neighbourhood, so we walked all the way back, and finally got a taxi.

Crypto Coin Dice Site

crypto_dice_site - This is a fair dice site including the verifier so you can see that the results are fair and not tampered with. I wrote this as a way for me to learn Tornado. In addition, I’m using KnockoutJS, jQuery, Foundation and SockJS. Lots of other Python libraries were used too, such as bitcoin-python to handle the RPC calls to the coin daemon. Database-wise, it’s running off PostgreSQL, using momoko to connect to it from Tornado for async DB calls.

Travel: Spain 2014 | Part 7 - Seville Day 2

Day 7 - June 14 As mentioned in the previous post, we didn’t have much of a plan for Seville. Other than Plaza de Espana, the Seville Cathedral, and the Alcazar, we weren’t sure of what else to do. It was good to slow down the pace a little bit after our crazy-packed itinerary in Barcelona! Oscar had recommended that we take a walk to the Cathedral and other attractions, and along the way, stop by The Mushroom (Metropol Parasol).

Travel: Spain 2014 | Part 6 - Cordoba Day 2, Seville Day 1

Day 6 - June 13 I initially wanted to head for Archaeological Ensemble of Madinat Al-Zahra to see the ruins, but decided that it’d be better if we slow down a little and just relax for most of the morning :P. We had a train to catch at 4.20pm and only woke up around 11am, so getting to the Madinat Al-Zahra would’ve been a very difficult mission anyway! In addition, we were advised by Maria to take the 11am bus to the Madinat Al-Zahra the day before, and had already missed the timing.

Day 5 - June 12 After spending 4 lovely days in Barcelona, it is time for us to leave. Our next stop was Cordoba, and we booked the 8.30am train leaving from Barcelona. Sheryl’s not too happy about leaving Barcelona… We arrived at the train station early and grabbed some breakfast first. Food was important, our (ok, my) aim was to sleep on the train ride since it takes about 5 hours…
