Hello

Welcome to my tiny corner of the internet and this is where I will pen my thoughts down. Below are some of the common topics I will be writing on.

  • Technology
  • Earning Miles
  • Personal Finance
  • Travel
  • Life (Woah)

Wait, Who Are You?

Hello again, I’m Yuan Chin and am usually called YC, because it’s easier. I majored in Computer Science, and my career has largely been in Marketing Operations. I’m currently with LinkedIn and it’s an amazing place to be working at :)!

I spend a fair bit of time coding in my free time and have previously contributed to a couple of community projects including CyanogenMod. I once wrote, and then subsequently open sourced, a dice site for Bitcoin and its fellow alternate currencies. Every now and then, I still work on some small projects, perhaps someday one of them will take off. You can find my GitHub link at the page footer.

Besides technology, I have an almost unhealthy obsession with earning miles through credit cards. Whether it’s for miles or cashback (I have my reservations with cashback), I think that there are many people out there who are not utilizing credit cards efficiently. And no, I’m not talking about using it and getting into serious debt. If you’re one of them, please clear your debts first!

Directly or indirectly, that has lead me to be more careful with my personal finances as well, and I budget for just about everything before spending. It’s a recent habit that has formed only in mid 2015 though, but it’s definitely a habit I hope to keep.

Like many people nowadays, I love travelling and hope to be able to write and share some of my travel experiences here. Travel blogs have helped me immensely whenever I’m researching on a place to visit, and I hope to return that favour to whoever may need it.

Exercising is thankfully, a habit of mine, and I exercise about 4 to 5 times a week, including a badminton session at least once a week. With that said, I don’t think I’ll be writing much on this, if at all.

Minimalism is something that interests me, and perhaps something that comes with age. Less is often more, I find that the less stuff I have, the more time I have for other more important things. I’ve gone through lots of stuff and sold them, and I rarely miss them.

In case you are interested, I also blog on Tumblr at http://t.yc.sg although I’m still thinking if I should just start using this blog instead.

I guess that’s all for now. The “About” section is always one I struggle with!
